In 1988, Charles Malka made fashion history with the opening of the first Charles David boutique in the almost unattainable block of Hollywood: Melrose and Martel. Closely neighbored to boutiques a la mode (Betsey Johnson, Koala Blue and Las Habitudes) the Charles David name came into infamy selling coveted boots and heels to legions of fashionistas and celebrities alike. Fast-forward twenty years, Charles David presently operates 28 nationwide freestanding boutiques and is sold in major department stores and over 500 specialty boutiques nationwide. In the past few years, Charles David has seen much growth by successfully launching two diffusion lines: Charles by Charles David and Exchange by Charles David. Most recently Charles embarked on handbag design, creating an effortless choice for his customers.
