5Great Shoe  Dec 22, 2008
I walk about 22 miles a week and these shoes didn't even have to be broke in. I just started walking in them and they are great. I have a hard time finding my size in stores it's great to beable to order them and they fit just right. Thanks!

1double trouble  Dec 16, 2008
Purchased 4 weeks before a 10 hour adventure race. Wore them around town to break them in and they seemed comfy. But when used on the terrain they were intended they failed miserably. These trail running shoes have no business at all being off road. The course i was on was a mix of dirt, bigger rocks and fist size rocks plus roots. In other words a normal mountain trail. The simple summary, flimsy. I felt every pebble, rock and twig through the sole and was absorbed by my sore feet. By the end of the run section my feet were really in pain from the impacts. This has never happened to me with any trail running shoes previous. These may be good for running on grass but have no business at all in ANY trail situation. To add insult to injury "both" the front rubber bumpers peeled down. I contacted New Balance directly and added pics to show them how the toes peeled but have not heard word one from them. Warning....buy something else as the 811 trail runners are junk

5Awesome shoe!  Nov 25, 2008
I bought these for my husband. He works in a medical clinic, and he needed good support, as he is on his feet most of the time. These shoes are perfect for him. He feet don't get tired or sore, even after an eight hour shift. These shoes are perfect for anyone who is on their feet a lot.

4Try them on!  Sep 09, 2008
Great feeling shoe. Breathes very well and the cushion is nice on the trail and on hard road mile after mile. This is the first pair of shoes I've bought online, I figured after 10 years of wearing new balance the size would be the same and unfortunately the same 10 1/2 was a little small in this style. The first time I did strenuous exercise in them I ended up with a very sore and bruised big toe. I will go up a half size but stay with the MT811s...they are light-weight, soft and cushiony and the air goes right through vented mesh creating a nice feel all around. Just try them on first for size!

5True to size, light weight runner but strong enough for XT.  Aug 07, 2008
So far these MT811's show good comfort and fit. The front box (EE) is finally the proper size for a 10.5 sized shoe. The heel is high and rounded with no friction points plus a small attached utility loop. The uppers are very light, impressively so (compared to the NB 4 and 5 series) and they also breath as well as any running show, no clammy feet in the summer.

This combines into a very "not there" feel which is very comfortable but requires you pay better attention to your foot fall form so you don't make any mistakes in your outdoor adventures.
Impact response is good, maybe too good as downward declines push the foot forward more than I'd like, but that will fade with time I'm guessing. There is also plenty of room for inserts and the eyelet holes for the laces don't leave much flexibility for fancy lacing, but are adequate otherwise.
